About me - Hello W🌎rld

Janis my name – developer by trade, explorer by heart, creator by nature.

My journey began in 2010 when I launched one of the first major German Minecraft servers, igniting a passion that evolved into a life of coding and constant creation. Since then, I've built everything from "Lity" (a force-graph note-taking app) to "VanillaEarth" (a meticulously recreated Earth in Minecraft). These days, I'm diving into game development and 3D scanning for a project about lost places and urban exploring.

In 2019, I bid farewell to conventional life, spending three years in a circus wagon in Munich before settling in an old chestnut mill in Tuscany – splitting my time between repairs, gardening, and exploring forgotten corners of Italy. My adventures fuel my music (find me as Eszett on streaming platforms) and my visual storytelling (check my YouTube for travel documentaries).

As I once said, "Go on a journey and you'll find yourself more humble and grateful." I could have been a rapper, singer, beatmaker, or songwriter, but I prefer to stay underground – though with all the money invested in camera gear, expect another film... someday.

My passions - Code. Create. Wander. Repeat.

You'll always find me with a camera in my hand, a laptop in my bag and a bike around the corner.

  • Digital Crafting. From Vue.js to React, from WebSockets to Yjs – I build digital worlds that connect people. My projects range from Minecraft servers to cooperative real-time applications.
  • World Exploration. In 2019, I traded my 9-to-5 for a life of global wandering. From living in a circus wagon in Munich to restoring a chestnut mill in Tuscany – home is wherever curiosity takes me.
  • Creative Expression. I translate experiences into music as "Eszett" and capture moments through filmmaking. I've invested "way too much" in anamorphic lenses, so expect another movie... eventually.

Featured Projects

'From Denorite (connecting Minecraft to TypeScript) to Enchanted (a WebOS for virtual societies), my digital playground is constantly evolving. Currently, I'm blending 3D scanning with game development to create an immersive urban exploration experience.
